Description
A Hereford bullock is a large powerful animal, but this one seemed very friendly. I was out walking in South Wales, where I live, when I came across these animals in a field. I didn't go into their field but leant over the gate, and this one came walking towards me. He seemed very friendly and enjoyed having his nose rubbed. He was a magnificent animal, and I knew I had to paint him.
His predominant colour was red/brown so I under-painted him in orange, which I then went over with a darker colour but allowed the orange to remain where the light caught. I under-painted the white parts of him with blue in the shadows and dark yellow in the light.
The piece is painted on a canvas board and has a wood-effect oak frame. The board is 30cm x 40cm and the frame is 3cm wide. I will ship the painting in a cardboard box.
