Description
The Mill is one of the oldest buildings on the Dunham Massey estate to the south of Manchester in the UK. It dates back to the 17th century and was built as a corn mill and converted to a sawmill in 1860 and milled trees from the estate for around 40 years. It is powered by water from the moat and being built into a slope is an example of a “bank mill”. The waterwheel is still able to drive machinery and could produce the equivalent of around 7.7kW of energy. The Dunham Massey estate is owned by the National Trust.
