Description
I’ve thought of a few different titles for this painting but kept coming back to Hidden Depths because it feels right. The more I’ve worked on this painting, the more I’ve seen in it - the majority intentional but other ideas purely incidental/ fortunate. There is a suggestion of fields - maybe wheat - growing with the golden mustard yellow at the bottom, the hint of flowers with the outline of stems in the mid section with the gentle blue sky and sea. There is warmth here with a just a hint of cold. I painted this at the start of spring so I can see the influence of the weather here! I like the contrast between the complex layering at the bottom of the canvas that grows/ develops into something seemingly less complex and one dimensional. Above all the vibrancy of the colour combination makes this work particularly eye catching. This painting has been created with a variety of acrylic paints and some water colour touches. It has been finished with three light coats of artist satin varnish to protect the paint and enhance the effect of the picture. Artist brown tape is used on the reverse to gently cover the staples. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a promise to donate £10 to the NHS.
