Description

Castlerigg Stone Circle is one of several stone circles dotted around Cumbria and is undoubtedly a prime spot for photographers. Like so much landscape photography, the Circle is best seen either pre-dawn, or early evening and lit by a low Sun with softly diffused light. Another advantage of these timings is that there are few human visitors to be seen.

The circle is from the Neolithic period, been the subject of a number of studies and like many other circles, believed to have some Astronomical purpose in being aligned with planets or stars.
