Artistic background

Creativity and artwork has always played along the sidelines throughout Erin's life; living near Brighton with a very artistic family, this was pretty much fate. She originally tried a Fine Art course at college; however, with a breakout of COVID-19, and a sense of misdirection, this led to a change in college, and art staying in the background. In June of 2020, she decided to create my first statue-themed piece, 'Thinking Man', which later led to a larger statue-themed piece, 'Caesar'. Eventually, she was commissioned to do her third acrylic statue, named 'Perseus and Medusa', which remains her favourite painting to date. Erin later created 'Blue David', a mixed media piece using oil and acrylic paint; then finally created 'A Splash of Scarlet', her first official abstract/geometric painting. As of yet, she hasn't had any art exhibited, but with a steady flow of new pieces being created, including some smaller, iridescent, acrylic insect paintings, she hopes to be attending some exhibitions and gaining some achievements in the future.

I love to paint the smaller details, such as the shadows on a body, down to the finest line of an insect's wing.

Interests

My main interests lie within acrylic, black and white statue paintings, ranging from sizes of A4, to a new piece I've started, which is W 60 x H 80cm. However, I have recently completed my first oil canvas, as well as teaching myself how to effectively use palette knives! Aside from my more fastidious canvases, I do take great joy in my smaller pieces (about 12cm x 12cm), which are of acrylic insects. These insect paintings tend to be iridescent, and laid out in a sort of taxidermy-style, then placed in a gold or silver frame. Anything to do with anatomy or beautiful little creatures, and I'll have my paintbrushes at the ready!
