Artistic background

I am a full-time artist based in Angus. I have been painting and exhibiting for over 40 years. I paint the land & sea scapes of Scotland. I love just “being” in a space & then trying to reproduce some of its energy through the application of paint, mark-making & colour choice. My style has evolved into a free-flowing intuitive process which I find good for the soul. I work in acrylics. I like how the paint dries fast so I can add layer upon layer & then scratch and chip away into the surface. My aim is to bring a little piece of the outdoors, indoors so the memories of “being” in nature are never far away.

Interests

I am an avid heavy rock fan and follower of football, both of which keep me entertained in my workspace.

I volunteer with Guide Dogs Scotland. Currently, I’m a foster carer for young dogs in training. It’s great trekking about the country, finding inspiration for my artwork, with my four-legged companion.
