Born and raised in Nottinghamshire, England, Kris has been developing and exhibiting artwork since 2011.

Artist Statement

UK-based Kris is an award-winning contemporary British painter and digital artist with an eclectic taste, and has for over thirty years been working on abstract and representational works.

Pop and impressionist paintings gave way to vividly coloured and tactile abstract pieces as Mercer's art evolved throughout time. Her abstract art's simple motif is "colour it beautiful," which she uses as a declaration of emerging from the depths of depression and into the radiant light.

Kris now focuses her studio efforts on painting impressionistic and abstract landscapes.

Suffering from a chronic back problem often limits her time spent on physically painting. She then turns her attention to producing digital art works.


She uses her collection of over 40,000 photographs to help create digital paintings, graphics, and other projects on the computer. Enough to keep her occupied for some time to come.
 These are then processed and produced as prints.

Her artworks are held in collections in the UK, USA, Europe and Australia.


Bio

Born and raised in Nottinghamshire, I didn't go to art college until I was in my 30's. I was offered a University placement on finishing the BTEC course but declined and in a manic moment emigrated to Cyprus.
Returning to the UK in 2000 with mental health issues (later diagnosed with Bi-Polar) I have continued to develop my practice, working from a large attic studio at home.
I exhibit sporadically and have won a number of awards including a Clairefontaine award and The Artist exhibition award.
My paintings are displayed in homes and offices throughout the UK as well as the United States, Europe and Australia
