Artistic background

I am an established professional artist living and working in Plymouth in the beautiful SW of England.

Following studying at The Arts University Plymouth (PCAD) I travelled extensively throughout Europe and the Far East. The vibrant colours of the Far East has been a lasting inspiration for much of my art.

I have exhibited in Plymouth, London, Exeter, Exmouth, Teignmouth, Torquay, Totnes and Lanzarote, and I am represented by a number of local galleries throughout Devon.

I am the co-director of a Community Interest Company, The Inspiration Project - Plymouth, the aim of which is to inspire creativity in others by running workshops in inspiring locations. Our current location partners is The Garden House, where we celebrate the changing landscape in the four seasons. I am also the director of Plymouth Artists Collective, which was created by me to support creatives find outlets for their work and provide a forum for Plymouth artists to interact with each other.

Mainly painting with acrylics I like to add texture, depth and interest with other mediums such as sand, paper, gold leaf, charcoal, shells, sea glass and plastic and Posca pens to name a few. Recently I have been commissioned to paint murals in public places in the City, which I have found very rewarding. Scaling up has been challenging but one I have enjoyed immensely. I also enjoy painting and refurbishing discarded and unloved mannequins bringing them back to life as lamps and side tables. It is fair to say my art style is eclectic…

I have been fortunate to find a global market for my art and my work can be found in homes in the UK, Eire, Italy, France, Switzerland, Australia, America, Lanzarote and Spain.

I do hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoy creating it. All my pieces are made with love and because I want it to last the test of time I use only the best quality artist materials and they are finished with a high quality varnish to protect them from dust and dirt. If you decide to purchase a piece of my art be rest assured it will be carefully packaged and sent promptly by a reliable postal service.

Art is both my work and my passion.

Interests

In my spare time I love to cook (and eat!).

During the week I look after my son’s little dog, Lily, which gets me out walking in the beautiful countryside and coast surrounding Plymouth.

Visiting Plymouth’s wonderful new Museum and Artgallery, The Box, is a favourite pastime and I have been inspired by the interesting exhibitions, particularly Songlines, which showcased the intricate art of the Aboriginal nation.
