Artistic background

Philip has built a reputation for works of art that tend to add a slight twist to what is commonplace to give a surreal feeling to everyday situations. The representation and placement of characters in strange and awkward situations has become an anticipated feature of his work. Painting only in oils, much of his work is set in and around the city of York, UK. In summary, his paintings aim to deliver a flavour of the unlikely, rather than reality.
