Paintings and mixed media works made from recycled, donated, found and salvaged materials or materials bought with money made from selling the above. Works cover themes of Pop Culture, Religion, Capitalism and Existentialism amongst others. Styles include abstract expressionism, collage, pop art and illustration used in a mixed media working process which involves using materials that have been collected and stockpiled from various different avenues. These materials could be anything from frames, canvases, objects, imagery, stickers, wax crayons, textiles, ceramics, pencils, paints, pieces of wood or metal scrap… the list goes on. All artworks are one offs, no prints will be made, you will own original artworks exclusively.

Artistic background

I have a 1st Ba Degree in Fine Art from Leeds Metropolitan University.

Whilst at university I worked in a variety of disciplines, installation art, sculpture, mixed media, painting and specialised in photography. I exhibited work at the university gallery whilst attending and have worked in teaching and creative roles since graduating. I am a jack of all trades, turning my hand to most things, carpentry, stone work, painting and decorating, musician, photographer, poet and writer. In more recent years I have had time to start creating artworks again, works from which 90% of the materials used were gifted to me, found in bins, skips, at the roadside or saved from landfill in one way or another. The other 10% of the materials used were funded by money made from selling some of these items. The works range from collage to mixed media works and paintings. I work from meditated concepts as well as making works inspired from just delving into the materials I’ve amassed I like to make blunt yet humorous art which I suppose reflects my own personality and view of world. My work is diverse but has its roots in questioning and challenging the world around us, covering topics such as spirituality, capitalism, religion, hierarchy, celebrity/pop culture, government, conspiracy as well as various other studies.
