LeyburnUnique wall hangings and sculptural paintings on canvas.
Artistic background
I love to experiment and play with art and this is what I’ve spent most of my life doing.I get excited about trying something new and I’ve enjoyed great success selling my paintings which were created with glue guns and hot melt coloured glue sticks. The glue gives my work a sculptural quality with a patchwork/mosaic style effect.
More recently I have created lace-like artworks with a 3D printer pen. I was thrilled to find this clever little tool which allows you to draw with heated plastic. I use a rubber-like flexible filament called TPU which is incredibly strong and durable. These pieces are usually suspended from a wooden dowel or wire frame but they also look amazing displayed in a modern, museum style box frame.
It’s quite difficult to categorise these wall hangings as they are a drawing but they also have a sculptural element. As they often look like lace, they could be classified as textile art.
Occasionally I like working with acrylic paint when I feel the need to get really messy with glorious colours. I like to create texture and incorporate acrylic skins (dried paint) into these works on canvas.
I’m fortunate enough to live in a beautiful rural area in Wensleydale. My days always start with a long dog walk through woods and fields. I often collect leaves which I press and then paint with images inspired by my surroundings or whatever takes my fancy in the moment. I use acrylic paint for my leaves and these tiny paintings have a more traditional feel.
I like to think that a visitor to my gallery will be offered something a bit different from an artist who refuses to stick with one media or art style.

“I will continue to create a mini hobby shop inside my studio because I will always want to learn how to make something new. Growth isn't doing the same thing over and over again.”Interests
