Artistic background

I would like to say I went to art college, winning accolades and giving exhibitions of my work, but it wouldn't be true. All I can say is I come from a family of artists and musicians on my mothers side. As a child I spent quite a bit of time with my aunt in her studio, surrounded with her artwork. I remember being particularly interested in horses at the time and spent many hours trying to copy my aunts sketches of horses. From there I carried on to draw any animals using photographs for reference, finding a special fondness for dogs. Experimenting with different mediums, I eventually discovered a love of soft pastels on velour paper. In all of my artwork I try to capture a look in the eyes or an expression on the face to tell the animals story. If I can accomplish this I am happy.
