Artistic background

Hello, I am an artist living in Bournemouth. I have a background in graphic design, illustration and design arts. I worked as a graphic designer for over 15 years before moving to Bournemouth.

I paint mainly in acrylic but also watercolour, ink, collage, textiles and mixed media to create large scale acrylic pieces, using vibrant colours to small illustrative watercolour and ink art. My pieces vary between watercolour paper and canvas.

My inspiration comes from contrasting patterns and colour in nature, seasons and architecture. How colour can influence your mood and reactions. I have always been drawn to anything visually vibrant and uplifting. In my work creative freedom is important . I am thankful I can paint every day and so creativity is part of my life. I like to think my use of bold colour and expressive mark making infuses each piece with energy.

My work employs layers thereby creating texture and definition that add character to the final piece. I love colour! My work consists of originals, prints and cards. I also accept commissions.
