Artistic background
Julia Kalli is a classically trained abstract artist creating original acrylic on canvas paintings with brushes or palette knives in impressionist or post-impressionist style and with some elements of watercolour techniques. Julia’s pathway to art was not linear: having received a 4-year classical fine art education, she hasn’t used it for many years building her career elsewhere, and only recently she has happily reconnected to art. Therefore, she could be considered as an emerging artist.
Quote
Unlike realism, abstract art provides vast room for interpretation. Why are shapes and colours like these? Is there any meaning or a sign or a symbol? None of the above. Just beautifully balanced colours dancing in perfect harmony flowing into quaint shapes and evoking subtle associations, warm memories and pleasant feelings.
Interests
Julia has passion for nature inspired abstract landscapes and colourful fluid shapes. Her artworks are fitting well for a variety of home interiors and styles, enlightening the spaces with colourful accents, creating cosy and liveable environments and bringing a unique touch of the artist’s individuality.
