Artistic background

Currently I work from my home studio in Chester le Street, County Durham.

After a successful 29 year career in the family construction business, I now divide my time between my Art and being a foster parent.

Whilst having some formal art training, I consider myself to be largely self-educated, which has allowed me to develop my own unique painting style, featuring a combination of real and imagined scenes, with inspiration drawn from the beautiful dales, vales, and rugged coastline of Northern England.

Working primarily with acrylics, my abstract expressionist paintings feature heavy texture, strong tonal contrast, and a vibrant palette. I love to encapsulate simple yet striking scenes capturing the essence of the world around me.
