Description
This artwork is a pastel which shows off the vibrancy of the subject, Lavender. These Lavender fields are in France and stretch far into the distance. There are mountains in the far distance echoing the different shades of Lavender and trees in the middle ground allowing shade in the summer heat. You can almost smell the Lavender in the summer sun. It's a joyful scene away from the bustle of city life. Also in the distance are sunflower fields adding to this colourful country scene. I choose pastels for this kind of work as it is pure pigment and the pastels I use are from Henri Roche, a maker of pastels dating back to Degas and the French impressionists. These fine pastels were used by these artists
