Description
This is a large, brightly coloured, abstract painting in oils on a stretched canvas. The original inspiration for this range of paintings was a painting trip in the countryside near my home. It was evening, the light was fading and and the setting sun formed stripes of colour behind the clouds, while the trees and fields took on stark, rigid forms. I had to paint quickly, capturing the colours in a series of expressionist lines.
Through a series of digital sketches the image changed orientation, and the clouds and forms took on their own identity, and eventually I painted this piece.
The title comes from a song on “Low”, a David Bowie album. Music is an essential part of my painting process, and this is one of the albums I use most frequently.
