“Degree of illness refers to the severity of a medical condition, the overall impact of the illness on an individual's health. It's often used to categorise illnesses based on their potential seriousness, resource needs, and impact on an individual's life.”

Mental illnesses have many degrees of severity, it took me over 10 years to get the right diagnoses for bipolar disorder (after seeing 3 different psychiatrists) and also find the right medication and know what fundamental daily routines I need in my life in order to learn how to live with the severity of my illness.

I’ve tried to show this in this painting by creating multiple layers with contrasting colours.
