Description
I decided to paint the small but distinctive wren as I had noticed one darting about in my garden and then disappearing into hedges. The halo of gold and the gold background have visually elevated the wren's status.
The significance of the five eggs: A wren will lay an average of five eggs and I placed them amongst the branches where they will be seen as fully grown birds in the future.
The frame is made from parts of an old oak fire screen. I wanted it to play a role, becoming more organic than a simple border.
The painting is acrylic on canvas and is strung, ready to hang.
