Description
Do you believe me? captures a suspended, almost dreamlike moment between two costumed figures, dressed like acrobats or jesters who seem to have escaped from a dream. Their richly decorated outfits, the mix of surprise and trust in their expressions, and the circular, ornate background architecture evoke a baroque, theatrical world where anything might be true—or a trick.
The intricate detailing, masterfully rendered in watercolor, gouache, and India ink, creates a poetic tension between motion and stillness. The viewer is invited to ask the same question these two characters seem to pose as they hold hands: Do you believe me? Or perhaps more deeply: Do you believe yourself?
This is a piece that plays with perception, deception, and trust, set in a magical and dizzying dreamscape.
