Hare and Tortoise Sculpture

This sculpture was inspired by both the traditional tale of the hare and the tortoise and by observation of hares in the Doñana national park. The park is not far from where I spend a large proportion of the year, in Andalucia, Spain. The sculpture shows the hare resting as the tortoise creeps up on him. Colour and texture has been used to give a slightly abstract representation of the subjects. This sculpture has been made available in two different patinas, it was originally a commision for the gardens of a large country house.
