Description
An original painting depicting the aftermath of a wildfire. Uncontrolled and unpredictable fires are one of the most common forms of natural disaster in many parts of the globe including Australia and California. Whatever name they are given - wildfire, bush fire, wildland fire or rural fire - they cause damage to property and loss of life as well as having major environmental impacts. The potential consequences can be severe including health impacts from smoke inhalation, destruction of property, water, and soil contamination as well as major impacts on flora and fauna. Climate change and other human activities such as land-use change, and wildlife suppression are major contributions to an increase in wildfires.
