I created this portrait in celebration of the coronation on 6th of May 2023 of His Majesty King Charles III as he became King of the United Kingdom and the 14 other Commonwealth nations. He became king upon his mother’s death in September 2022. At the age of 73, he became the oldest person to accede to the British throne, after having been the longest-serving heir apparent and Prince of Wales in British history. He is depicted here in front of the Union Jack in a portrait composed of approximately 2400 British definitive stamps which depict his mother Queen Elizabeth II. New stamps are now in circulation showing his portrait as his reign begins. The piece embodies the essence of leadership, dignity, and unity, set against a vivid backdrop symbolizing heritage. This artwork is a dynamic presence, inviting contemplation on both past and future, while bringing regal energy to any space it graces.
