Paranoid Android Painting Oil

Part of a series Inspired whilst revisiting Radiohead’s OK computer. The incredible cover art by Stanly Donwood, the multiple references to The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (with its blindingly white space ship) and its expansive sounds inspired me to conduct photography experiments manipulating the exposure, focus and shutter speeds to create a bleached out, both hazy and sharp aesthetic. This in turn lead me to a series of paintings which I wanted to make as white as possible. I start with a board of thick white oil then gradually create structure and depth using black tinted with dioxine purple. This particular piece is very calming and and fresh and I will be sad to see it go!
