Description
"A Calmer Woodland Place" was inspired by some lovely woods near my home in the Peak District. Golden sunrays beam through beautiful leaves creating dappled shadows and light over the forest floor. There is a sense of distance in the painting almost like taking a journey to a quiet glade. The colours suggest forest flowers and there is a feeling of fresh breezes on the air. This is a beautiful time of year in the woods the colours being at their most vibrant. An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on deep edged canvas. I begin with observation of the place making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. I paint some base layers with a brush and then impasto techniques layer on layer applied with a palette knife, creating a contemporary painting, which lies somewhere between abstraction and realism. The painting continues round the sides, a frame is not needed and it is ready to hang.
