View at Carleton from Rookeries, Yorkshire Landscape

Rookeries by Pontefract is a small woodland elevated above the village of Carleton. It has been a nesting place for birds for as long as we can remember. Hence the name "Rookeries".

I often like to take Harvey for a walk there; however, I must be careful with free-running dogs. First of all, this can be dangerous in general. Because Harvey fears other dogs, it is very tricky to encounter loose dogs there.

Anyway, one day in springtime, we were brave enough to go for a walk in the Rookeries. Harvey was lucky to be the only dog there, and I was fortunate to see the fantastic view of the village of Carleton. Mostly, I liked the yellow fields behind the town. It was awe-inspiring scenery in my eyes. Unfortunately, and as usual, I left my camera at home.

By the way, I do not carry a cell phone around permanently. Of course, it would be helpful, but I can get along fine without these devices, although the built-in camera may make them more appealing to me. Still, it is not attractive enough to permanently glue myself to a smartphone.

However, I returned to probably the same spot a few days later. "Probably," because finding the same place again is not easy. Unfortunately, the light wasn't the same as a few days ago, so my painting is partly what I photographed and partly what I remembered from the other day.

I like the green grass in front, the yellow fields behind, and the tiny houses with an abundant tree landscape in the middle of the artwork.

I have painted using professional-grade coloured pencils and acrylic paints. The mixed media painting is mounted (US: matted) in two mats; the first mat is creme in colour. On top of it is the second mat, which is greenish-neutral grey.
Materials: Bristol paper, professional-grade colour pencils "Polychromos" by Faber-Castell, acrylic paints of professional quality, varnish

Size: 50 x 40 x 0.35 cm mounted in two mats, and it will fit in regular frames/ 32 x 22 cm painting size
