Description
Although I do many portraits I don't often do famous faces. I made an exception with the late Baroness Thatcher. She was such an icon and a divisive figure - she still is. I could not resist the challenge of painting her in later life when the mask of the "iron lady" had slipped a little revealing a frail and somewhat vulnerable old lady.
This portrait is intended as an affectionate tribute to an often derided fellow human being. Her gaze carries so much weight.
