Description
Two horses are standing in the snow in their field looking somewhat resigned or miserable, which is why I called this Waiting for Spring.
I like painting horses as you can focus on the musculature. The horses were under-painted with orange that shows through where the light catches to give a warmth to their bodies. I have also added warm colours into the rest of the painting as a foil to the cold blues and whites of the snow.
The painting is on a birch board and I have left the edges unpainted as the wood grain is attractive. This can either be hung on the wall as it is, or it can be put into a frame.
