Deep Calls To Deep Acrylic

Deep Calls to Deep is painted on a deep edge canvas in acrylic and inspired by Psalm 42:7 (Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me). The psalm describes the sense of being in a difficult place, one of despair, and a longing for God’s presence to bring refreshing replenishment. This painting depicts this sense that is described, with the imagery of fresh waters (representing the soul refreshing presence of God) quenching the thirst and parched feeling in the soul. There is texture throughout the surface, particularly a crackled effect in the darker lower righthand section to portray parchedness and thirst. The gold and purple colours have been used to represent the royal majesty of God.
