Description
A Postage Stamp Collage
To create this picture I have used approximately 3000 used postage stamps with heavy sanded white acrylic paint to represent the ‘speed’ of the aircrafts engine blades (the texture here symbolic also of the pain and suffering caused in warfare). The work was inspired by ‘Bratatat’ a 1963 Pop Art painting by Roy Lichtenstein. I have used a comic book style by using hand painted Ben-Day dots and speech balloons mimicking comic book printing using flat areas of colour, strong contrasts, precise outlines and stylised shading.
