Description
Inspired by three sets of Bible verses (Psalm 141:2, Revelation 5:8, Revelation 8:3-4) which all describe the prayers of the Saints rising like incense before the throne of God, this painting gives a semi abstract depiction of the descriptions. There is texture on the left side of the canvas providing shapes of arches/windows of a vast church building. This was to depict the idea of being in a place of prayer and worship of God. All the bible verses mentioned above have been written on the canvas in gold pen; not all is visible due to paint naturally covering over words as the painting developed. The paint colours were chosen to represent God's majesty. Gold paint rising from the bottom of the canvas toward the top represents the prayers rising like incense. A fine dusting of gold leaf was also added at the end to accentuate this. An appearance like sky appears at the top of the canvas, drawing your eyes upward towards the heavens.
This painting is on a deep edge canvas with the painting continuing around the sides, so no need for framing. The surface has been treated with a layer of satin varnish to protect it.
