Bajan Princess – The Story
Every year I take a month or so in Barbados to get some winter sun. I stay in the same small villa just outside Bridgetown on a secluded quiet beach, perfect for an early morning swim.
Just nearby is the Garrison Savannah Racecourse and the training grounds for the thoroughbreds leading to Pebbles Beach (oddly no pebbles). Every morning, 6am sharp the racehorses are led by the stable lads to the soft golden sands for the horses to take their early morning swim just like myself.
I also take that same walk the day before race day to check out the form of these magnificent, almost wild beasts. Each season I would get to know the “hands” and slip them a few dollars to find out which horses are fit and who definitely will not win the next day.
The lads and I would share jokes and tales of the legendary beauty, who on occasion swam from her yacht out at sea and would pick a winner for the biggest race of the day. Funny, I had not seen her in 20 years of coming to Pebble Beach until that morning. Was it a vision? I don’t know so I asked the stable hand the filly’s name. “Bajan Princess” he said in his warm lilting Bajan accent.
My Bajan Princess subsidised my entire holiday that year and the apparition remains with me for ever. “Com’on Bajan Princess!!!”
CUSTOMER INFORMATION
All my artwork works are digital creations. There are separate layers of drawings laid on top of each other using the same methodology as David Hockney’s digital drawings “Fresh pictures of a very beautiful world”.
The portraits are drawn almost like a police photo fit. There is also layering of colour and all pieces are manipulated digitally 100’s to 1000’s of times. This allows for a complexity and texture in my electronic works.
To create even more depth and texture each work of art is printed onto finest art photographic paper, using the Giclée Hahnemühle print methodology.
Every print is numbered and priced accordingly.
The picture will be shipped in break resistant packaging within 14 days of payment.
