Memories of my travels to Venice, particularly during the past year with travel restrictions as a result of the global pandemic, were the inspiration behind this piece. The glorious light, colour and reflections convey a sense of deep nostalgia and emotion in this piece.
The piece combines a mixture of both realism through the rendition of details as well as expressionism through the use of expressive colour and mark making.
