The first time you tried to ride a bike, you probably fell off. Can you ride a bike now?

Drawing is simply making marks on paper which describe something. It might be a map of how to get to your house or a highly detailed drawing of a holiday destination.

Either way, you've been drawing.

Drawings can be much more than just pencil on paper.

But drawings don't have to be figurative. They can simply express the enjoyment of the marks the artist makes.

Or they can be worked up into a final piece with exciting detail and bizarrely they can include paint.

Quite clearly drawings and paintings overlap. They are all, after all, marks meant to engage the viewer and "tell a story".
