Artistic background
As an artist and sculptor, my roots trace back to Gyumri, where a family steeped in education nurtured my upbringing. The journey of creation unfolded early in my life, guided by my father, Artur Hovhannisyan. What he termed as "creating" was, for me, a delightful game—resembling the realm of a child's play, where imagination thrived, and pliable materials like clay and plaster became my mediums of expression. My educational trajectory led me through the corridors of the Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction and the Gyumri Academy of Fine Arts. Post my formal education, I dedicated numerous years to the world of art, always identifying myself fundamentally as an artist. The genetic legacy passed down from my father, intertwined with an enduring passion for beauty, has been a consistent thread in my life. Thus, my free time has been a continuous devotion to the art of sculpture, a passion that has matured over the years. The works showcased here are not just creations; they are experiments, reflections, and artistic pursuits that have evolved over the past decade. In this space, I strive to breathe life into the already formed while leaving room for the emergence of new creations yet to take shape in the recesses of my consciousness. The ultimate judgment lies in the discerning gaze of viewers like you.
