Artistic background

Mariya Paunova is a Bulgarian artist, who is well-known in her country, as well as all around the world. She has graduated from the 'Art School of Applied Arts' in Tryavna, Bulgaria. Even then, her creativity and original approach don’t go unnoticed, as a result her paintings attract the attention of the local connoisseurs. She has a distinctive style of painting, where expressive colours and boldness prevail. Most of the art connoisseurs define her technique as unique and inspiring. Her paintings are abstract and include landscapes, cityscapes, portraits and figures, all having an original impressionistic touch. What is special of her paintings is the fact that they can go deep under your skin with their warmth, empathy and sometimes they can tell you a story. “I love to tell stories. Not in words, but in colours through my paintings. I want the person who looks at my paintings to see his reflection and himself in them and the light of his soul."
