Artistic background
Jeanette graduated from the Cheltenham school of art at Gloucester University in fine art and history of art.She has exhibited in various galleries around the country, notably her portraits have been shown in the RBSA gallery open exhibition and her horse paintings have been in the society of equestrian artists exhibition “The Horse in Art” at the Rose Patterson Art Gallery, Weston park. Along with this Jeanette donates work to charities including the Guildford philanthropy trust.
She has also now expanded into demonstrating to art groups in her chosen medium, with occasional features in the SAA art magazine.
Jeanette works primarily in watercolour, though occasionally using other medium’s with whatever she feels suits the subject.
Inspired by the natural world with a particular love for British wildlife and horses, she endeavours to capture the character of the individual.
Using watercolour in a loose and lively manner, with a touch of serendipity, she feels this way of painting embodies wildlife’s active and skittish spirit.
Quote
“Art as expression, not as market campaignsWill still capture our imaginations
Given the same state of integrity,
It will surely help us along”
( An excerpt from the song “Natural Science “ by Rush)
Lyrics Neil Peart
Interests
My main medium of choice is watercolour, though I use all manner of paint and materials. The serendipitous behaviour of Watercolour is a thrill and a challenge. my inspiration is in Movement, light, fast moving energy. Watercolour and inks by their flowing nature are the ideal mediums to use. My subjects tend to be wide and varied, though animals especially dogs and horses are my favourite. We have such a strong emotional connection with them. I especially enjoy to semi abstract the natural world. So overwhelmed and moved by everything. Creating through the medium of art is to reflect such wonder.I love the outdoors, energetic sports such as windsurfing, mountain biking and riding horses makes one feel alive. Baking is a most agreeable pastime of mine. Another form of creativity though somewhat ephemeral to say the least!
