PinnerArtistic background
I am an emerging artist, though my artistic journey began in my youth when I studied easel painting for two years at the Tashkent Theatre and Art Institute. While I later pursued a career in social research, my deep connection to the arts has remained constant. I have regularly engaged with museums and exhibitions and explored photography, which has lately become central to my creative practice. My work has been featured in several exhibitions. In March 2024, I participated in the 6th Annual Turkish Community Art Exhibition in London, and one of my works has been selected for the next, 7th Annual Exhibition, opening on March 19, 2025.
From October 1 to 12, 2024, 49 of my works were presented in my solo exhibition at the Willesden Gallery in London.
In November 2024, three of my works were included in the Remembrance Exhibition at St. George’s Arts Centre in Gravesend.
In December 2024, two of my works were showcased in the Transcendence Exhibition at Boomer Gallery in London.
One of my works was accepted for the 2025 Annual Open Exhibition at the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art in Conwy, which was run until March 1, 2025.
Three of my works were included in the Chinwe Russell Contemporary Living Artists (Online) Auction, curated by @chinwerussellart, running from March 13 to April 6, 2025 (my lots are 0284–0286).
A British citizen with Central Asian origins, I draw inspiration from both Asian and Western artistic traditions. My work primarily involves photography and digital art, using my own nature photographs as the foundation for digital compositions created in Photoshop. Through the transformation of these images, I explore themes of human existence.
Interests
My compositions are created from photographs of specific fragments of nature—mainly, fallen leaves and twigs—that capture my attention and fascination. At the core of my work lies an existential inquiry: observing how dead or decaying elements of nature not only retain but often amplify their beauty, I reflect on why human beings seldom undergo a similar transformation. In my work I incorporate the principles of Ikebana, but within a two-dimensional realm. And here, of course, parallels with our human existence come to mind. Why is it that aging individuals, and even the concept of death, rarely capture the attention of artists? One possible explanation is that we live in a world where beauty is often associated with youth, with its vibrancy and the fullness of life. However, as someone approaching 70 (next year), I’ve come to realize that aging and even death can be subjects of aesthetic contemplation. They, too, can embody beauty - an insight that has deepened my own understanding of existence.
In addition to this thematic exploration, I am also deeply interested in abstract-cubist compositions. For these works, I use a series of my photographs capturing the urban environment, where distinct linear-cubist outlines naturally emerge. Rather than constructing these forms myself, I discover them within the architectural structures of the cityscape, emphasizing the geometric harmony inherent in the built environment.
