Pierino Hristov
BeverleyArtistic background
Hi, my name is Pierino Hristov, and I'm an artist. Even before I imagined becoming an artist, I was surrounded by art. My parents, both dedicated to their artistic pursuits, played a significant role in shaping my artistic journey. My father, who set up a printing factory for porcelain tableware, visited leading companies in Europe and brought back a vast array of visuals. My mother, with a degree in ceramics, worked as a decorator and designer of ceramic pottery models. The factory became a fascinating world for me, filled with beautiful printed decors, the smell of paints and varnishes, and smiling people. Having just graduated from the College of Photography and Printing, I was completely immersed in this charming atmosphere. I also had the opportunity to accompany my father to exhibitions related to his speciality, where I eagerly collected and observed the catalogues.
These experiences subconsciously shaped my worldview, and I began to see the world as a vibrant canvas of art. Enrolling in Art College felt like a natural progression. Surrounded by fellow artists, I was enchanted and completely absorbed in the world of art. My favourite subject was the History of Art, and although I admired the Impressionists, Rembrandt held a special place in my heart. Art College helped me develop and improve my ability to discover art even in unexpected places.
After graduation, I worked in the Union of Bulgarian Artists. I worked as a printer for the lithographic press while leading practical courses for students from the Academy of Arts in Sofia. This experience gave me the opportunity and confidence to open my gallery. Through my contacts with artists, teachers, and art collectors, I became well-known, and my gallery quickly became a centre of attraction for many people in the art community.
I took a drawing class with the renowned teacher Bavaro at Los Angeles Valley College. This experience broadened my techniques and led me to create my jewellery collection, some of which were offered in a shop on the famous Rodeo Drive Boulevard. I furthered my education by enrolling in a class on Interior Design and Architecture Online at the Art Institute Academy in San Francisco.
Despite my challenges with drawing and calculations, my passion for design motivated me to master several Graphic Design programs like Photoshop and 3Dmax Studio Design. I participated in a project by Sarah Bernard - Interior Design Studio in Los Angeles, where we renovated Victorian houses for an annual event. This experience deepened my understanding of art and design.
After a period away from art, moving to England reignited my passion for painting. The inspiring landscapes of Yorkshire, especially the Moore and Danby regions, fuelled my creativity. I began painting watercolours and later explored oil works and computer-generated graphics. Thanks to my curator Gil Hobbs, I participated in an exhibition in Hull, showcasing some of these graphic prints.
Although I enjoy abstract painting for its freedom and expressive potential, I appreciate the discipline required for realistic works. My latest abstract series, "In the Fight against Time" or "Erosion," focuses on the surfaces of rusted metal plates found in abandoned factories. This process requires careful observation and attention to detail, reflecting the intricate beauty created by nature and time. Lately, I've been experimenting with AI Art programs. I have drawn several paintings entirely created with AI. I find the recreating process very interesting because these images are completely machine-generated. I continue with my experiments, I hope they are interesting for you too.
