Marion Spencer

Artistic background
Originating from a small market town in Somerset, I used to draw local scenery with a fine isograph pen from an early age and sold drawings and gouache paintings in a local gallery from my teens. I was also comissioned to document the old flour mill at Clapton. My mentor was Tom MacArthur RA who tuotred me after school.I took A level art and foundation studies at Yeovil College where I developed a love of ceramics and photography. I took BA 3D design Cermics at Bath Academy of Art in the early 80s.
After college, I founded an artist cooperative gallery in my hometown of Crewkerne and took part in the first Somerset Arts Week . My work sold in Bristol, Bath, Bishops Waltham and Glastonbury at various retail outlets and fairs.
In 2015, on moving to Purbeck, Dorset. I re-kindled my art after a break of 15 years due to life circumstances and three years in the U.S.A where I taught and after school club and nine of which I had been a reporter and photographer for a Somerset free paper.
I am currently a member of Purbecks Arts Weeks (PAW), Dprset Arts and Crafts Association (DACA) and Purbeck Artists and Stallholders (PASH) and sell work at various Dorset galleries and events as well as online.
