Description
Butterfly Tree of Life is a semi abstract, unique artwork and at 24" by 24" would make an excelloiseent statement piece. This paintinsg has been created during the coronavirus pandemic and has taken many hours of work and has been built up over a number of weeks. It"s creation has helped to keep me cheerful during self isolation as each day admir was brightened by a new butterfly fluttering into view. The golden leaves shine beautifully under a light source.
The painting depicts some of the numerous butterflies seen in the UK, but some of these are fighting a battle of their own to survive.
Many are becoming rare with climate change and pollution.
Extreme weather events such as heatwaves and freezing conditions, which are set to increase under climate change, are generally damaging to butterflies. As the climate changes, such events including droughts are expected to become more common. Droughts can be a problem for butterflies, especially if they harm the plants upon which caterpillars rely for food. With less food around, populations can crash, and may take several years to recover to pre-drought levels.
While severe droughts have previously only occurred as little as once in 200 years, allowing plenty of time for butterfly populations to recover, with climate changes they will become far more frequent. If greenhouse gas emissions continue to increase at current rates, they might even occur every summer.
.
The sides and background are painted in Wedgewood blue and there are no visible tacks or staples, so framing before hanging is not essential. It is protected against dust and UV by two coats of varnish, so the colours will not fade.
The painting comes signed and dated by the artist with a Certificate of Authenticity and will be despatched quickly by a Next Day Courier service, so that you know when to expect it to arrive or for overseas buyers by an international tracked service.
