Description
A vibrant semi-abstract square oil painting describing an upwardly spiraling shoal of glittering small fish. These iridescent silvery fish mirror the rainbow colours of their tropical reef.
Being surrounded by the sea in the Indian Ocean for many years allowed me to gain an insight into the wild marine life and its synchronicity below the waves.
Painted in recognition of so many who are working so hard to protect the coral reefs in the waters around Seychelles which are the inspiration for this work.
This is a painting of multiple layers, the abstract background of several layers was laid in originally, and after a 3-week drying time each fish was painted in white, allowed to dry over several weeks then finally individually shaped and coloured to mirror the background colours … the 3D result creates a myriad of activity seemingly swirling off the canvas
This matt varnished oil painting is 60 x 60 x 1 cm and the sides are painted white.
The work is dated and signed on the front lower right corner as well as on the reverse and is framed in a wood white stain floater frame ready to hang, the total size being 63 x 63 x 3.3 cm
