Description
I decided to paint the house sparrow as it is small, humble bird with no ostentation but which, to me, is no less impressive than its more colourful brothers and sisters. With the addition of the halo of gold and the gold background I have visually elevated the sparrow's status.
The frame is made from parts of an old oak fire screen. I wanted it to play a role, becoming more organic than a simple border.
The painting is acrylic on canvas and is strung, ready to hang.
