Description
This is oil and acrylic painting on high quality linen and custom made canvas. The style is defined by sculptural use of paint. It is 3-D, built-up mixture of many layers of thick gesso, paint, sand and other materials.
I'm inspired by the structure of Saturn's Moons. This one was inspired by the surface of the satellite called Phoebe. It is an irregular satellite of Saturn with a mean diameter of 213 km. It was discovered by William Henry Pickering on March 18, 1899. Phoebe was the first target encountered upon the arrival of the Cassini spacecraft in the Saturn system in 2004, and is thus unusually well-studied for an irregular satellite of its size. Phoebe is roughly spherical and has a differentiated interior. Phoebe was named after the after Phoebe, a Titaness in Greek mythology that was associated with the Moon.
Finished with a glaze of UV varnish to protect against sunlight and dust damage. The colors may look a little bit different depending on the screen. This artwork is signed and dated on the back. A signed Certificate Of Authenticity will be included with the artwork. Edges are painted so it doesn't require any frame.
