Description
Framed by me, the artist, this piece is ready to hang.
I did this large painting in acrylic about 10 years ago but changed it considerably 2 years ago. It’s a big, impactful figurative piece and that is what I had set out to achieve. My son, Michael, performed the modelling for the initial drawing. In some senses it’s a very simple, tonal painting that in the main makes use of 2 colour complementaries, red/orange and blue. He is sitting in my, then new, shed and you can see a few items that happened to be there, a tin of paint, an empty, round tin of ‘Celebrations’, I think, a sort of see-through plastic storage container with stuff inside it, a few frames and a board leaning against the wall. The mirror showing his side profile adds further interest. The background has been made hazy in order to push forward the figure which is more sharply painted.
