Description
Original, impressionist, landscape, pleinair, oil painting on panel, 8x10 inches (20x25 cm).
While strolling one evening through the New Forest, looking for a location to set up my easel, I discovered a small path leading through the less accessible, overgrown part, and I immediately liked the sunlight coming through the thick foliage and casted shadows, creating the great contrast. However, it is always very challenging to paint such spots as the light comes and goes fast. Painting a lot from memory and finishing when the light started to disappear at all, as the night started to descent quickly, I managed to somehow finish what you can see now. However, I wasn’t sure until the next day, if this would be finished painting. But than, after a while I started to like the result. Quickly laid brushstrokes, no fuss with details, simplicity and impressionist look…
The painting is signed and sold unframed. The Frame is not included. All materials are archival.
Painted on MDF panel treated with 3 layers of high quality gesso and 1 layer of GOLDEN GAC 100 primer to prevent sinking of colour over the time, where pigment would otherwise loose the crisp look due to loss of oils contained in the paint. That will ensure the bright and fresh appearance of oil paint over the long period of time. All my paintings are always treated with thin layer of protective varnish after they dry.
