Description
Echo of an English Summer is a large oil painting of a Sussex late summer meadow with deer and wild flowers, art nouveau style. The area that inspired it is the Burwash area where there are lots of fields and streams and gentle slopes that represent best of English countryside for me. This was painted after a walk I did through abundant wildflowers at the end of August when thistles and mauve flowers were all ganging up on me as I walked thought them. I saw a few small deer herds and you can just see two of the deer on the left of the painting watching as deer do. I always feel sad at the end of summer as nature winds down for the autumn and winter. It is like a theatre after the cast has left. It is a beautiful melancholy and I paint one every year that represents this feeling. Dedicated to all the farmers and environmentalists who are helping to preserve our meadows and hedgerows and wildlife. It is 40x40x1.5 inches, white edges, frame not needed as is wide edge canvas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zeA-gGYTms
