Self Portrait with Hat Acrylic

Framed by me, the artist, this piece is ready to hang.

I painted this with acrylic paint on a summer evening the best part of twenty years ago. It is, therefore, a younger me. I set up a mirror in my hut and the hat had been given to me by a friend at work. At that time it was common for me to do my initial drawing in green and much of that initial drawing remains visible. There is a very limited colour palette, overwhelmingly, it's a range of yellow ochres, reminiscent of the light you tend to get in a shed. It's also a very tonal piece of work. It’s honest, fresh and not overworked, in my view.
