The MASQUERADE series was inspired by the Venice Carnival.
The tradition of wearing masks refers to ancient rituals and beliefs. Wearing a mask was associated with a change in status or social roles. The man in the mask was no longer himself - that's why in Venice it was illegal to arrest crossdressers. Masquerades, masked balls and cavalcades were and are unique events.
The mask can be a decoration to hang on the wall as well as an element of a unique disguise. It is made of plastic, fabrics, artificial stones and natural feathers
