Description
Davies made this portrait bust because the subject matter commands attention and respect from the viewer. Perseus' Corinthian helmet is pure magnificence. Above all other depictions of classical helmets, the Corinthian design has been most widely used throughout Art History. Davies' group statue maquette 'Perseus and Fame proclaiming the birth of Pegasus' includes the human figure - Perseus, son of Zeus and Danae where Davies considered him deserved of being a sculpture on his own. Please note in one of the images Perseus in front of Perseus in the banner showing the same stance.
